Positive Vibes Quilt

Wednesday, August 9, 2023

Hello, hello!  I finally got some pictures of my
finished Positive Vibes quilt that I want to share with you today!

I got her quilted a while ago but I am so slow at binding these days
and I'm even slower at getting pictures!

I designed this pattern to go along with my recent fabric collection
with Poppie Cotton called Treasured Threads.  The little rectangles in it
remind me of stitching.

It's fat-quarter-friendly and the pattern comes
with instructions for 2 size options - baby and throw.

I hosted a quilt-along for it in March and April of this year.
I even taught a few Positive Vibes classes for different guilds
recently and it is so fun seeing the different colorways people choose.
It's cute in every colorway!

I would say the skill level on this pattern is advanced beginner.

It has an on-point layout (so the blocks are turned 45 degrees).
It's not much harder to sew a quilt this way.
You just sew diagonal rows of blocks with triangles on the ends -
to square it up.

I had my quilter, Jen Ostler in Highland, Utah quilt it for me.
She used the Diamond Loops pattern and I love it!
I think the diagonal lines and the curvature of the loops really compliment
the pattern and the fabrics!

I love a good scrappy binding and this one does not disappoint!

This quilt finishes at 71" x 85".
A nice large throw-size quilt!
Glad to finally have her finished and photographed!

If you'd like to snag a copy of this pattern you can
visit my Etsy shop HERE.
And you can check out the two-color
baby version I made HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today!
I'd love to hear what you think about this quilt
and let me know if you have any questions.

Flora's Baskets

Wednesday, January 11, 2023

Hello, hello!  Today I am sharing my
third (and final) pattern that I designed
for my upcoming fabric collection
with Poppie Cotton called, Treasured Threads.

Meet - Flora's Baskets.

It's a Layer Cake (10" square)
friendly pattern and it comes with instructions
for 3 different size quilts - lap, twin, and queen.

It's my spin on a vintage-inspired
Basket pattern and I love this particular
basket block!  Quilting and basket blocks
go hand-in-hand in my opinion.
Basket blocks are just classic.

The quilting was done by Jen Ostler in Highland, UT.
I always love crosshatch quilting.  It's timeless!

Last night I got the itch to make a scrappy
version of Flora's Baskets using lots of different
low-volume fabrics for the background.

I'm loving where it's headed!  It's a bit messier
and more time-consuming to make those
blocks.  But you know me, I love scrappy!
I'm thinking about doing a tutorial for the scrappy
version of these blocks that you could use in
conjunction with the pattern?  Maybe newsletter
subscribers would get it first???
You can join the newsletter HERE.

It's so surreal to be able to play with my own fabric!
I'm loving seeing it pop up in the wild by people
that received advanced yardage.

fabric tour click HERE.

Do you have a basket quilt?
Are you more of a scrappy person or not?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Sprout - A New Pattern

Tuesday, January 10, 2023

Hello!  Today I want to share
a new pattern I designed called Sprout.

It's a simple applique pattern that uses 10" squares.
It comes with instructions for 3 quilt sizes -
baby, throw, and queen.  This is the throw size.

I used fabrics from my upcoming fabric line,
Treasured Threads by Poppie Cotton
(which ships to stores at the end of January).
The background fabric is from my line too.
It's a great low-volume grid print called
Good Measure in the color Natural.

The backing is a pink Country Confetti by Poppie Cotton.

The simple custom quilting was done by
Wren Woodland in Highland, Utah.

Do you applique?
Have you ever wanted to learn?
This is a great pattern to try with!
I share my favorite method -
a freezer paper method to make the templates
and then I hand-appliqued them to the background squares.
However, you could use a different method, if desired.

If you're a quilt shop owner, Sprout
would be a great technique-based class project!

You can snag the Sprout paper pattern HERE
or the Sprout PDF pattern HERE.

I'd love to hear what you think of Sprout.
Are you a fan of applique?  Let me know in the comments!

Treasured Threads Fabric Tour

Monday, January 9, 2023

I can't believe the day is almost here!
My first fabric line EVER is shipping to stores
at the end of the month.  It's a dream come true!

I would like to introduce to you - Treasured Threads
by yours truly, for Poppie Cotton.

This is a bright, happy fabric line
inspired by my love of crochet and quilting.
A sweet sparrow bird is the mascot.

Some of the prints give a nod to graph paper,
doilies, and gingham.  And of course, there are lots of
florals thrown in too!  The colors include different
shades of pink, aqua, and yellow, with little pops of red, orange,
teal, and navy.  There are some creamy whites too,
to round out the collection!

Today marks the start of a Treasured Threads
Fabric tour.  Many of my friends have made items
with advanced yardage of Treasured Threads.
I can't wait to see what they've made!
Here's the schedule; I hope you'll follow along!

I have 3 new patterns that I've designed
in honor of Treasured Threads.

First, Positive Vibes:

It's a fat quarter-friendly pattern that comes with instructions
for 2 sizes (baby and throw).  I'll be hosting a quilt-along
for the throw-size starting March 1st.
Details coming in a separate post soon.
Grab the pattern HERE.

The second pattern I designed for
Treasured Threads is called Sprout:

It comes with instructions for 3 sizes
(baby, throw, and queen) and it's
a great pattern to learn how to applique.
It's Layer Cake (or 10" square) friendly!

You can grab the Sprout pattern HERE.

The third and final pattern is called
Flora's Baskets.  It's my spin on a
vintage basket pattern.

Again, it's 10" square friendly and comes with instructions
for 3 different-size quilts - lap. twin, and queen.

You can grab Flora's Baskets HERE.

I'll share more details soon
about each of these quilts.  To stay in the know
