Hi!  I'm Amber.

I'm so happy you're here! 

I'd like to welcome you to my little piece of Blogland.  

A little about me...

I've been married to my best friend for 28 years.  I have two children and am now empty nester.  Boy, does time fly!  I'm now trying to figure out this new phase of life!  I'm a quilter, two-time author, a pattern designer, and a fabric designer.  I love hiking, walking, and running in the mountains near my home. I love soccer, decorating, and baking.  I was born in California, grew up in Washington state and have been living here in Utah since 1997.

I started quilting a few months after I got married (in 1998).  I asked my grandmother (who was an avid, award-winning quilter) if she would teach me how to quilt.  Of course, she was thrilled to have someone in the family who actually wanted to learn how.  We made wonderful memories as we worked on my first quilt together.  It took me about 3 years to complete it  (LOL) but after that, I was hooked!  She gave me my first thimble and she is also the namesake of my quilt pattern design company called Gigi's Thimble.  Her name is Delma but her great-grandchildren call her Gigi (pronounced Gee-Gee).

Gigi's Thimble was born in 2009. 

I'd say my design style is traditional with a hint of mod.  I love happy quilts and fabrics.  I think when you make a quilt it should be an enjoyable, creative process and I think the finished quilt should make you smile.

My first book, Vintage Vibe was published in November 2014.   My second book, Quilt the Rainbow was published in 2022.

It's a dream come true to do what I love and I thank all of YOU for your encouragement and support!
